Frequently Asked Questions

The tool uses a quantization algorithm that samples your image, clusters similar colors using a median-cut approach, and identifies the most dominant and visually representative colors. You can adjust the number of colors (4–12) and sort them by frequency, hue, lightness, or saturation.
For each color you get: HEX (#RRGGBB), RGB (red, green, blue 0-255), HSL (hue, saturation, lightness), and approximate CMYK values. Click any color card to see all formats and copy individually.
After generating a palette, scroll to the "Export Palette" section. Choose CSS to get :root { --color-1: #hex; } format, or Tailwind for extend.colors config. Click "Copy Code" to copy it to clipboard or "Download" to save as a .txt file.
For each selected color, you see the WCAG 2.1 contrast ratio against white and black. A ratio of 4.5:1+ passes AA for normal text, and 7:1+ passes AAA. This helps ensure your chosen colors are accessible for text use.
No hard limit, but very large images (over 20MB) may be slow to process on older devices since everything runs in your browser. The tool automatically scales images internally for faster processing without affecting color accuracy.
